Bethany House New Releases Fall 2019 (Historical Romance)
I love books by Bethany House. There’s just a certain spark to them that appeals to my romantic heart. Especially their historical romances! So, I decided to fill you in on what books they have scheduled to release for the rest of the year.
What is historical romance?
Historical romance is a sub-genre of historical fiction. In other words, it’s a type of historical fiction in which the main story line involves romance. A lot of stories will have a romance involved somewhere in the story, but it may not take center stage. In stories that are considered “romances,” the plot might just fall apart if the romance were to be taken out of the book.
So, then, historical romances are stories that heavily involve romance and also heavily involve history (and takes place in the past). Most Christian fiction considers “historical” to be the Vietnam era and earlier.
As mentioned, the books I’ve listed below are all from Bethany House Publishers. They’re in the Christian fiction/nonfiction space, so you can bet that their romances are clean. That means doors stay closed on intimate details, and characters (at least by the end) follow the basic Christian beliefs about love and marriage, etc.
However, it’s important to note that there are varying degrees of “heat” even within Christian romance. I personally like books where the characters have a strong emotional chemistry between them, but on the page, they go light on the physical closeness. But every reader has a different preference–and every author has does, too.
I will say I have read a few of the authors below, and enjoy many of them! I’m currently reading The Spice King by Elizabeth Camden now (mentioned below), and I plan to report back with my thoughts once I’m done. I’ll plan to link to that review in this post when the time comes.
WITHOUT FURTHER ADO, THE BETHANY HOUSE PUBLISHERS NEW RELEASES FOR FALL 2019 (HISTORICAL ROMANCE)!
